The Pitch

59º North ‘Mission Control’ is our way of offering the same kind of support we offer our own skippers & crew, to you. It’s another way that we can fulfill the original mission statement of 59º North - “sharing the wisdom of the high seas with those wise enough to seek it out.”

Mission Control consists of three discrete ‘stages’, depending on which part of the offshore sailing journey you’re about to embark on:

  1. Boat Search:

    Looking for the perfect boat to fulfill your sailing dreams? Our skippers, crew & ‘admiralty’ have been there (many times) and can help you find it. We charge a flat fee for email//phone consultation and aren’t brokers, so have no financial interest in what boat you wind up with. We just love looking a boats and know a thing or two about how to avoid the pitfalls and want to help you. Check out our recent Boat Shopping LIVE Sessions to see how we do it.

  2. Outfit/Refit:

    Already have your boat and want advice on how to outfit or refit her for offshore sailing? We’ll help with equipment lists, best practices, design ideas, contractor referral and more. Andy Schell alone has now bought and refit five boats for ocean sailing and learned a TON on the way.

  3. Offshore Support:

    Get the same shore support that we give the skippers and crew of ICEBEAR & ISBJORN on the 10,000+ offshore miles per year that we sail. Checklists & documentation support, passage planning, live online tracking, departure weather windows, offshore routing and on-demand shore support - call or email us while your at-sea to get advice on how to plan for landfall, troubleshooting problems, weather advice or just a calm, professional voice on the other end of the sat phone to talk to.

Mission Control is available as a package for all three levels of service, or as discrete stages depending on your needs. Each stage is fully customizable and we carefully limit the number of people to whom we offer the service, in order that we can offer you the best service. We do this because we’re passionate about it and want to give back some of the knowledge we’ve earned over the years we’ve spent at sea.
