10 // FALKEN: Ireland – Bergen, Norway // 900 Miles & 11 Days // $6,500 // 5 Available

$6,500 // 11 Days

Synopsis

From Galway, we'll sail north along the rugged west coast of Ireland and the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Weather and wind will dictate the schedule, but we should have the opportunity to make a stop or two along the way with possibilities like Isle of Skye, Orkney, Fair Isle, and Shetland. It’ll be challenging sailing around the north of Scotland, with strong tidal currents, a likelihood of fog, oil rigs and of course the probability of heavy weather at some point.

From there, we'll sail east towards Norway—a quick passage across the North Sea following in the footsteps of the Vikings to make landfall in beautiful, historic Bergen, homeport of ISBJORN.

What to Expect on This Passage

  • Perhaps the most variety of conditions and scenery we’ll see in 2024 and a mix of coastal anchoring and offshore sailing.

  • Mix of coastal and nonstop sailing, depending on weather conditions and timing.

  • This is a good trip if you’re looking to learn more about cruising, including anchoring, managing changing weather, etc.

  • Guaranteed to get a few days nonstop offshore on the North Sea crossing to Bergen.

  • Hopefully a chance to stop at mythical Fair Isle en route to Bergen!

Note

We now reserve two spots for women on all of our passages! Learn more here.

All 59º North passages are led by qualified RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Ocean certified skippers & mates, and all miles sailed onboard BOTH of our boats will count towards your own license mileage requirements. We are happy to provide certificates to this effect as well towards your RYA Day Skipper, Yachtmaster or other countries’ sea time requirements.

The Route

Expected Weather Pattern

Westerlies will likely be the predominant wind direction, but we have the possibility of having all sorts of weather for this trip, from light & variable winds to deep depressions blowing in and bringing heavy seas along with them. The further north we go, the colder it'll get too!
