Mia and I are organizing this through the World Cruising Club, and it will be held at the Columbia Yacht Club. The discussion starts promptly at 8:30AM and will finish by 11:00AM. Coffee and soft drinks available from 8AM and a chance to chat with other sailors.
Speakers will include sailor and boat builder Paul Exner of Modern Geographic Expeditions, ARC Caribbean 1500 participants of the Valiant 40 'Pendragon' Jen & Scott Brigham, and Paul & Sheryl Shard of the Southerly 42 'Distant Shores.' The Shard's produce a TV series of the same name, and have cruised the world documenting their experiences. The panel will be moderated by World Cruising Club USA Event Manager and SAIL Contributing Editor Andy Schell. All are highly experienced sailors with a wealth of insight and knowledge to share.
Topics for discussion will include the preparation required for ocean sailing, from selecting equipment to sailing with children, offshore communications to sail plans. There will be a special emphasis on the requirements for the Caribbean 1500, and ample opportunity for Q&A.
Only $15 per person including coffee and a FREE ticket to Strictly Sail Chicago!
