It's been in the works for a while now, but we can finally announce that come April 2016, Isbjorn will be bound for Havana! A long while back we published the passage from the Virgin Islands to Key West, to have the boat (and Andy & Mia) there in time for Andy's sister Kate's wedding. It's an obvious stop on the way to visit Havana, and we've finally gotten permission!

Thanks to Isbjorn crewmember & Senator Tom Harkin (ret.), we were able to arrange a meeting with Cuban Ambassador Cabanas yesterday in Washington, DC. Tom sat down with the Ambassador and his secretary to discuss Isbjorn's visit, and we're now in the process of finalizing all the details to make it happen!

There are only three places left for this passage, and with the news that we're visiting Cuba, we expect them to go fast!

Puerto Rico-Havana-Key West

Passage Details:

April 1: Crew meets Isbjorn in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Plan to anchor out at nearby Isla Palominos for acclimatizing to life abroad.
April 2: Depart for Havana. ~1,000 mile passage, typically downwind, so should take us 5-7 days.
April 7-8: Arrival in Havana for our official visit to the Cuban capital!
April 11-ish: Depart Havana bound for Key West. 90 mile hop, so a short overnight sail.
April 15: Crew disembarks Isbjorn in Key West.

Total cost per person is $4,500.00 and includes all food and drink onboard the boat, use of PFDs and safety equipment, assistance with Cuban customs & immigration, and any issues we might have getting back to the US. Senator Harkin assures me it'll be smooth-as!
