Sunsets are pretty on land as well! This is 14.30 in the afternoon over at 59°North and the sun is about to set... Lots of darkness!
Ironically I decided to start writing my blog again at the same time as we were flying over to Sweden to spend 2 month on land, no sailing as far as the eye can see. The blog will have mostly focus on the sailing and travel we do throughout the year, but also on reflections on life, training and a living a healthy lifestyle while traveling.. That said, this has been a fantastic time to just reflect on the super busy year we have had and catch up on some family and friends time before a busy winter/spring/summer onboard Isbjorn. Andy and I use to say that we would have hard time to be 100% live aboards, I love the different seasons and I like the slow change, land and house for a bit, and then back to boat and ocean mood for a bit! Right this minute, I just love the winter and the snow!
We left the boat in Nanny Cay Marina in the BVI’s, flew back to the USA for Thanksgiving and have now been more than 2 weeks here in Sweden. The first time we hauled Arcturus in Northern Ireland and ‘left her’ for a winter, I felt very guilty to just leave here there. Now it feels great. The boat is in a safe place (so was Arcturus that winter) and the beauty of having her on land is that we can basically start where we left from when we get back. This is the first time we left Isbjorn in the Caribbean for more than jus a few days, I can not imagine the heat onboard at the moment, so it will be interesting to see how she handles it. I can imagine it will be at least a full day of cleaning after spending time in the dusty boat yard!
Sweden has been treating us well and I am in full Christmas mood, 5 years ago I celebrated over here! I have done lots of baking, just this morning some lovely Swedish “lussebullar” and the Gingerbread house, including outhouse and dog house is now lit up with some LED lights. This weekend we are heading out to find the perfect Christmas tree!
I love this season and it is very nice to have some snow on the ground, wrap a scarf around me and not get too sweaty when running! More to come…
