McKayla Bower is an experienced outdoorswoman who is preparing to set off around the world alone on her San Juan 30, Swirl. Her goal is to be the first openly transgender person to circumnavigate, and the first openly queer person to circumnavigate solo. She has spent most of her life high in the mountains, summiting peaks, traversing ridgelines, and climbing huge rock faces. McKayla's drive is for the betterment of her community. Since coming out, she has learned that visibility is essential and she hopes her journey will be an example for others of how to follow your dreams and live authentically.
