Synopsis
After enjoying the spoils of downtown Amsterdam, FALKEN will head north and back towards familiar ground when we make our way back to our Swedish homeport of Marstrand on the gorgeous west (“best”) coast. This will be Andy & Mia’s second passage sailing together as a team since their son Axel was born in early 2020!
After departing Amsterdam, we’ll navigate the shallows, oil rigs and wind farms off the European mainland, and head WNW towards the open North Sea. While it’s a stone’s throw from Amsterdam to Marstrand as the crow flies, it’s a long way around the tip of Denmark with lots of weather and navigational challenges along the way.
What to Expect on This Passage
Sail with 59º North co-founders Andy & Mia!
Expect a nonstop passage from Amsterdam direct to Marstrand. While this trip parallels the coast, we won’t be stopping unless necessary for weather.
500 miles means about 3-4 days nonstop at sea on FALKEN, but could be more if it’s upwind, or if we head up towards Norway first.
Marstrand is the hub of the west coast of Sweden, and Andy & Mia’s favorite place to sail in their home country!
Note
We now reserve two spots for women on all of our passages! Learn more here.
All 59º North passages are led by qualified RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Ocean certified skippers & mates, and all miles sailed onboard BOTH of our boats will count towards your own license mileage requirements. We are happy to provide certificates to this effect as well towards your RYA Day Skipper, Yachtmaster or other countries’ sea time requirements.
