SYNOPSIS
Join Emma, Nikki, and Mia on ICEBEAR for our first-ever all women’s passage! We will sail from the beautiful island of Marstrand on the west coast of Sweden, to the sailing hub of Portsmouth in the UK. First, we will head offshore to cross the North Sea. Our exact route will depend on weather, as always, and may take us by the Shetland or Scottish Isles!
The Route
Expected Weather Pattern
September is a great time to sail in Sweden and the UK, but expect cool temperatures, variable conditions, and probable moisture. Fall in Europe usually comes with more frequent storms, so we may stop along the way to wait out weather.
Tentative Itinerary
August 31: Join ICEBEAR in Marstrand, Sweden at 17:00. Dinner with the group either ashore or onboard.
September 1: All-day safety briefing & boat orientation
September 2: Departure! (Weather dependent)
September 14: Depart ICEBEAR in Portsmouth, UK, by 12:00 Noon
Travel Logistics
Arriving: Fly into Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport (GOT) located about 68 km from Marstrand. Take a bus or cab to the Marstrand ferry terminal. Take a 3 minute ferry ride across the harbor, and ICEBEAR will be docked by the ferry.
Leaving: Take the train from Portsmouth to London (about 2 hour ride). Fly out of one of the several London airports.
