The Route

Expected Weather Pattern

Typically fair weather in the Azores High, but the potential for heavy weather if we get a fall storm tracking to the north. In 2021 on ICEBEAR we got stuck in Horta for almost a week waiting out 40+ knots of wind from the wrong direction, but once we got our weather window it was awesome sailing. Expect every kind of temps too - warm in the daytime, cold at night, and everything in between.

Tentative Itinerary

  • Oct 17: Join us in Horta, Azores by 17:00. Enjoy dinner with the group either ashore or onboard.

  • Oct 18: All-day safety briefing & boat orientation

  • Oct 19: Departure! (weather dependent)

  • Oct 29: Disembark in Lagos, Portugal by 12:00 Noon

Travel Logistics

  • Fly into Horta or Sao Miguel, TBD

  • Fly out of Lisbon’s international airpot (LIS) located 300 km from Lagos

  • As with all our passages, we strongly advise organizing the appropriate travel insurance to cover the cost of the trip.
