Synopsis
Join us in St. John’s, Newfoundland for an epic Trans-Atlantic passage and set a course for Greenland – a first for 59 North! We’ll sail across the Labrador Sea on the Viking Route from North America to Europe. Keeping a very close eye on the ice conditions throughout the summer, we’ll have a good idea by the time of departure about the estimates of iceberg density and sea ice limits for our passage. We’ll await a good weather window and then set out northeast towards Greenland. We will not be making any port calls, but as long as time and ice conditions allow for it, we’ll attempt to make the west-to-east transit of Prins Christian Sund – a mountain-lined, fjord waterway just inside of Cape Farewell on the southern end of Greenland. Continue sailing northeast making landfall in Isafjordur, an outpost town in the northwest corner of Iceland.
Note:
We now reserve two spots for women on all of our passages! Learn more here.
