SYNOPSIS - NON-STOP, DOWNWIND TO THE CANARIES
Join FALKEN on the beautiful Algarve coast of southern Portugal for the first passage of 2024. FALKEN will be nice and shiny after a few months of winter maintenance and ready for new adventures. This is a lovely, friendly passage south in cool temperatures and typically with following breezes, making for great spinnaker weather and star-filled night watches. We’ll make landfall in Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria, a bustling port city with thousands of sailboats and lots to do and explore ashore.
WHAT TO EXPECT on this passage
Non-stop, deep-ocean sailing once we leave the coast of Portugal behind us.
650-mile rhumb-line route will be about 3-5 days continuously at-sea, depending on wind strength
Expect downwind conditions, so lots of spinnaker work, wing-on-wing practice, downwind helming and easy sleeping weather down below :)

All 59º North passages are led by qualified RYA / MCA Yachtmaster Ocean certified skippers & mates, and all miles sailed onboard BOTH of our boats will count towards your own license mileage requirements. We are happy to provide certificates to this effect as well towards your RYA Day Skipper, Yachtmaster or other countries’ sea time requirements.

Jan 6: Join the boat in Lagos at 1300. Dinner with the group either ashore or onboard.
Jan 7: All-day safety briefing & boat orientation
Jan 8: Departure! (Weather dependent)
Jan 13: Depart the boat in Las Palmas by 12:00 (Noon)
Travel Logistics
Fly into Lisbon and take a bus to Lagos, or fly into the smaller local airport right outside of Lagos. Meet the boat in the marina!
Fly out of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria airport (LPA)
As with all our passages, we strongly advise organizing the appropriate travel insurance to cover the cost of the trip.
How to Join
To register, complete the Offshore Passage Registration by clicking the 'Sign Up' button above, or at the bottom of the page. You'll be asked to complete the form - make sure you hit submit. Indicate '2024 // FALKEN: Lagos - Las Palmas ' as your preferred passage.
Once we receive your registration, you'll be sent an invoice for 50% of the balance, due immediately. The final 50% of the balance will be due 60 days prior to the passage date. Terms and conditions are in the registration form, and you'll be asked to agree to them before submitting your deposit. Please read them carefully.
