8 // FALKEN: Tahiti – Palmyra – Hawaii // 3,000 Miles & 20 Days // $9,500 // 1 Available (Women spot)

$9,500 // 20 Days

Synopsis

The South Pacific is too big to make it all the way to New Zealand/Australia in one season with the extended cyclone risk, so we’ll sail north from Tahiti in French Polynesia, back across the Equator and on towards Hawaii. But not before taking in the remote Palmyra Atoll en route. This is a big one: 3,000-miles of ocean sailing across two hemispheres and taking in a variety of weather patterns and some exotic landfalls—a true test of seamanship.

NOTE

We now reserve two spots for women on all of our passages! Learn more here.

The Route

Expected Weather Pattern

Sailing northbound from Tahiti to Hawaii should be a combination of trade winds and the Pacific High. The trade winds blow consistently from the east, providing favorable sailing conditions. The Pacific High is a large area of high pressure that contributes to relatively stable weather patterns, with moderate temperatures and calm seas. Though, we’ll need to stay prepared for occasional, tropical squalls and the potential for storms during the hurricane season from June to November.
